Pocos días después del nombramiento de su sucesor, Peter
Copping, esta mañana nos despertamos con la noticia de que nos ha dejado el
gran Oscar de la Renta.
¿Quién no ha soñado nunca con enfundarse en uno de sus
vestidos que te hacen sentir como una princesa de cuento? O al menos asistir a
alguno de sus desfiles para poder ver una de sus creaciones más de cerca…
La primera vez que vi uno de sus vestidos fue en Gossip Girl,
aquel capítulo en el que Blair a buscar a Chuck a la Gare du Nord en un
increíble Oscar de la Renta naranja. Desde ese instante me convertí en una
admiradora más de su trabajo que nos hace soñar y qué a más de una de nosotras
le gustaría ver colgando de su armario. Existen muchos diseñadores de vestidos,
de Haute Couture, pero creo que ninguno como Oscar de la Renta; que no tiene
miedo a expandir sus líneas de trabajo, no solo con Haute Couture, también
Ready to wear ya que como él decía, “la
moda no sucede en las pasarelas. Solo cumple su cometido cuando vive en las
calles”. Por esa filosofía ha conseguido crear colecciones para la mujer de
calle, elegantes y con un mismo patrón, sentirse bien con lo que se lleva. Ha
sido uno de los diseñadores más aclamados de los últimos años vistiendo a
grandes mujeres como Jackie Kennedy, Diana de Gales, Hillary Clinton o Michelle
Obama. Y ha creado prendas tan únicas e icónicas como aquel vestido de Blair
Waldorf en París, el vestido con su firma para Sarah Jessica Parker en la gala
del MET 2014 o el vestido de novia de Mrs.Clooney que harán que su recuerdo
perdure para siempre en el mundo de la moda. Te vamos a echar de menos. DEP

It has been only
a few days since we learn that Peter Copping is the head of Oscar dela Renta.
Today we woke up with the saddest news; Oscar dela Renta’s dead.
Who does
not dream about wearing one of his gowns to feel like a princess? Or at least
who does not dream about going to one of his shows and see his collections a
little bit closer….
The first
time that I saw one of his dresses was on Gossip Girl. It was in the episode
which Blair went to look for Chuck at Gare du Nord wearing an amazing orange
Oscar dela Renta.
Since that moment I became a fan of his work; work that made
us dream and that we want to see it hanging in our closets. There are a lot of
dresses designers, Haute Couture designers, but no one like Oscar dela Renta.
He is a designer that is not afraid of expand his work, not only design Haute
Couture but Ready to Wear, as he said: “Fashion
doesn’t happen only on the shows. Fashion does it job when it lives in the
streets.” Thanks to that philosophy he has been able to create collections
for the common woman, elegant and with the same motto: feel good with what you
are wearing. He has been one of the most important designers of the past years.
He has also dressed great women such as Jackie Kennedy, Diane of Wales, Hillary
Clinton or Michelle Obama. He has designed unique and iconics gowns like the
one Blair Waldorf wore in Paris, the one that Sarah Jessica Parker wore this
year to the MET gala which he signed or his last creation, the wedding dress
for Mrs.Clooney. Not dresses, gowns, which will make him unforgettable in the
fashion world forever. We are going to miss you. RIP Oscar dela Renta.
